Alison Cole is a music composer for film, TV, and art music based in Sydney, Australia.
An accomplished producer, collaborator and performer Alison’s passion is the synthesis of electronic, electro-acoustic and contemporary classical spheres to create music that is hauntingly atmospheric, lyrical and emotional.
Alison grew up on Cockatoo Island, a former convict jail and industrial shipbuilding dockyard in Sydney harbour.
Her formative years were spent exploring abandoned solitary confinement cells, turbines, tunnels and workshops where she developed a unique interest in acoustics, timbre and sound. She went on to study piano and ethnomusicology, graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
In 2003 she co-founded Groove Q Music & Sound. Her work across film, tv and advertising disciplines has been recognised by both creative & business awards.Drawing from her experience in performance, recording and sound processing, Alison’s compositions range from raw intimacy to malevolent soundscapes.
